{Piazzola sul Brenta---Villa Contarini}

A BEAUTIFUL villa not too far from our house. The first time I saw it was on a bike ride with Mark. We drove out there today so I could take some pictures. It was open for visitors, but we're waiting until my parents, Chellse & Jesse are here--although my dad & Jesse might not see it--depending on when we go and visit it again. A t-storm moved in quite quickly as we were leaving and cooled things down here. The past couple of weeks, it's been HOT/HUMID!

{a German dinner}

We walked to Sindelfingen from our hotel for dinner. I got beef goulash and a bread dumpling, the kids got cheese spatzel & Mark got schnitzel and fries (I didn't get a picture of his dinner). Walking was good--we walked off some of our dinner going back to the hotel!

These photos were taken of the square in Sindelfingen after dinner. It was cloudy and rainy all day....and then after dinner, the sun came out! We definitely like Italy weather better ;)

The kids and I met my friend, Kendell, at her hotel and we took the train into downtown Stuttgart. We had a fun day exploring the city!

{meeting a friend in Stuttgart, Germany}

Last night Kendell & I had dinner in Sindelfingen. We taught for the last 2 years at Falcon Middle School in Colorado. It was so much fun meeting for dinner in Europe....she is living in Germany now. It was funny that we are in Germany, but ate dinner at an Italian restaurant! We're exploring downtown Stuttgart this afternoon. I'll post pictures from our trip soon!

Some of the figs on our fig tree are ripe. I don't think I've ever had a fig prior to this.....they are very interesting to eat. I am the only one in our family that will eat them. Mark & the kids tried them, but don't like the consistency (they are soft & mushy) of them. I'm surprised at how very sweet they are. I have to find recipes, because we are going to have A LOT when they are all ripe. I know my Dad likes them. They are visiting the end of Aug. I hope the majority of them are ripe when he's here.

{our veggie garden & plum tree}

Mark planted tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini & beans. We've enjoyed TONS of lettuce and zucchini....we're waiting for the tomatoes to ripen.



We picked about 1/3 of the plums (which was A LOT!)---the rest will need to ripen a bit more. Heidi sent me a plum recipe that I can't wait to try and I froze some...for when my parents are here--we want my mom to make us plum dumplings :)
